Hampshire Sheen’s first foray into metallic waxes, Gold is designed to be used on open grain woods such as oak or ash and works brilliantly to highlight textured elements on tighter grained woods.
Use in conjunction with the Intrinsic Colour Collection for stunning results.
Supplied in new 60g screw lid tins, these embellishing waxes add that something extra to open grained woods such as Oak and Ash or tight grained woods with added texture.
Currently, there are nine to choose from: Gold, Silver, Bronze, Black, White, Electric Blue, Electric Green, Electric Purple and now HOT PINK!
To use: sand the piece does to 400 grit, clean the grain with a brass brush or denatured alcohol, add some colour if you want to, and a single coat of Hampshire Sheen Cellulose Sanding Sealer, then rub your wax of choice deeply into the grain of the wood. Wait for it to dry for a minute or two, then buff off leaving the surface with a good shine and white or black grain patterns. You can then lightly overcoat it with Hampshire Sheen Microcrystalline Wax for an even brighter, tougher finish.
The carnauba and microcrystalline waxes are tough and hard wearing. In testing, no amount of hard rubbing with finger tips or cloth could remove the finish easily.
