You are purchasing a piece of Thuya Burl - this size in particular is perfect for making pens with, or for jewellery.
Thuya Burl is becoming rarer and rarer to find these days. It is actually a conifer fro the Cedar family, and is native to Morocco. The burls are usually found underground, but unfortunately due to its popularity since Ancient Roman and Greek times, resources have been severely depleted.
It is a fairly oily burl and easy to work if you use sharp tools and clean cuts. Be careful when drilling for pen blanks, as the open grain of the burl sometimes causes the timber to lose its integrity and it can split apart if care is not taken.
The timber your will receive will be very similar but not exactly the same piece as shown in the photograph (every single piece of timber is unique and would take far too much time to photograph individually for resale).

- Wood can warp and crack if stored incorrectly - again I cannot be held responsible if your timber moves and/or cracks prior to you turning it OR AFTER you have turned and finished it
- If your timber is cracked ON ARRIVAL, please contact me within 24 HOURS with photographs to see if something can be sorted out
