You are purchasing a piece of Evergreen/Holly Oak - this size in particular is perfect for making pens with, or for jewellery.
Holly Oak is an evergreen tree of a large size. The timber is hard and tough - used throughout the ages for tools, wagons and casks.
There is a Holly Oak situated in the grounds of Fulham Palace, London, and is reportedly over 500 years old!
The timber your will receive will be very similar but not exactly the same piece as shown in the photograph (every single piece of timber is unique and would take far too much time to photograph individually for resale).
